Milia are small white spots which look like hard white pearls. They usually appear around the eyes, cheeks or eyelids. When baby’s are born they usually have these ‘milk spots’ which resolve over time.
Milia are caused by a blocked pore that fills with a protein called keratin which then hardens. Milia although are a benign lesion can be unsightly and become bothersome when multiple appear on the skin.
Treatment
We often advise on skincare to help with the treatment of Milia in addition to either a Chemical Skin Peel or Advanced Cosmetic Electrosurgery treatment. This is where the tip of a small probe is inserted into the centre of the Milia. A popping sensation may be experienced as the Milia is treated.
